01/17/98 - Radio works, got oil
pressure ..
The radio works! That means the door panels are
back in, mounted the amp in the trunk on the back wall. The carpet
is back on the driveshaft tunnel. I don't think I'll put the ashtray/compartment
piece in. The interior is cleaning up nicely. Mike had labeled
things with masking tape. Masking tape works great if your not
going to leave it on a long time. 10 years is too long, it dries
up and leaves crap stuck to wherever you used it. Softscrub worked
well getting that off, then a lemon oil beeswax polish brought
it back to a real good looking shine.
I'll get more pictures when I get a digital camera
again. I bought the Sony Mavica FD7. It stores the images direct
to a floppy disk. That was damn handy. The idea is great, but they
saved the images in jpg format and didn't give a way to adjust
the quality level (other than course or fine). JPG is a good format
but at the quality level they (Sony) picked, I wasn't pleased.
Some of the images below were done with it. I recently went out
to San Diego and had a chance to use it quite a bit. The resolution
and quality didn't hold up well. The images from the bottom up
to and including the mystery parts were done with the Minolta digital.
From the radiator shots up to the full body shot below were done
with the Mavica. The Minolta shots have more detail and aren't
as blotchy. I'm going to look at what's out there and try another
kind.
Dan got the oil pressure gauge hooked up, turns
about 90 pounds cold, we didn't run it long enough today to see
what it settles at when it gets warm. Also got the temperature
gauge hooked up and it works. Stop light switch (hydraulic) works.
The fan, heater core and associated things are in and all working.
After the interior is all in, the next steps are
the windshield, then the convertible top. Figured out what the
extra wire in the trunk compartment was. There was a purple wire
ending about a foot from the trunk wall where the harness entered
the trunk. Its for the the trunk light! Makes sense once you see
it there, but it was mystery for a while.
There's a little oil seeping at the rear of the
metal cover on the engine, under the manifold. It's not really
leaking, but seeping enough to be one of those things that constantly
makes the engine/compartment grimy all the time. We'll try some
RTV there. With one bolt on the half moon hold down, I don't think
it will work without some type of sealant there. Any ideas are
welcome. |
